While many Mac users know about using Split View for sharing the screen with two apps, you can also use it to split the screen between two windows of the same app. You can put two safari windows on either side of your screen and still have access to tabs and the toolbar of each.

Video Transcript: So split view has been around for more than a year now and hopefully maybe you've tried it out and maybe even used it to have an app take up one half of the screen while another app takes up another half of the screen. For instance, here I've got Mail and Safari. If I want this to take over the entire screen. create an entire desktop in Mission Control, I would just press the green button here. But if I press and hold instead then I get to choose what half of the screen I want this to take over. So I'll say this will take over the left half. Then it shows me all the other windows that are open and I get to select which one takes over the right half. In this case it was only Safari here so I'll click on that and now I've got split view here in Mission Control. I can use Control left and right arrows to go back and forth. There's my original desktop where these both were on and here's the second desktop which is a split view between Mail on the left and Wikipedia, or the Safari browser, on the right. You can do this with just one app. So, for instance, it's very common to want to actually look at two web pages at once. Say I wanted this to be Safari on left and another Safari window on the right. It's pretty easy to do. Let's get out of this first. So I'm going to go ahead and click the green arrow here to get Mail out of the split view. Go back over here where I can see that Safari has taken over the entire screen on my second desktop. So I'm going to get out of that as well. Now I've got both of these out of that mode. I'm going to Quit Mail, just to get it out of the way. Instead I'm going to create a new Safari window. So in Safari I'm saying File, New Window, creating a new window. So let's say let's go to Discussions at Apple.com.Now let's say I want to go back and forth between these two very easily by splitting the view. You can do the same thing here even though this is just one app with two separate windows I can click and hold the green button, select which half I want for this Safari window and then choose the other Safari window in the other half.Now I have a split view with Safari on the left and Safari on the right but showing me two separate things. Very handy when you're doing research or online shopping or anything like that. You can still use all the different features here. So for instance I can create another tab here and create another tab here. I can go back and forth very easily between these tabs and have, basically, the ability to look at two web pages at once. Very easily splitting the entire view and not having the distractions of any other windows. You can do this with other apps as well that have multiple windows like two pages documents, for instance, side by side. But it's particularly useful in Safari or whatever browser you're using to be able to split the view between two browser windows.
