Just in the nick of time, DJI has dropped the new Osmo Pocket camera for aspiring videographers. This miniature camera is affixed to a three-axis stabilizer for shooting 4K video and 12-megapixel stills and will likely compete head-on with the GoPro Hero 7.

Announced in New York City at DJI's 'Because Life is Big' event, the Osmo Pocket is the smallest camera and stabilizer they've yet released at only four inches tall. Inside is a 1/2.3-inch sensor, a pair of microphones, a one-inch touch screen, and a battery capable of two hours of film time while shooting 4K.

'Innovation is at the heart of every product we create and DJI Osmo Pocket is here to change the way photos and videos are captured, not just by professionals but by parents, couples, adventurers, travelers and everyone in between,' said DJI President Roger Luo.

There are several software features available within the Osmo Pocket such as Timelapse mode, Motionlapse mode, panoramas, FPV mode, ActiveTrack, and FaceTrack.

Users can take advantage of the screen on the back, or pair it with their iPhone for more functionality using the new DJI Mimo app. DJI Mimo has a Pro Mode with more granular control over settings. If you connect the camera over Lightning or USB-C to your mobile device, it can act as a remote monitor.

Alongside the camera were a few accessories launched such as a charging case, filters, a controller wheel, and a wireless module.

GoPro's latest Hero 7 will be a close competitor to the Osmo Pocket but doesn't necessarily need an external stabilizer thanks to the digital HyperSmooth tech Gopro baked in. Mac app that turns screen orange. Both are similarly priced, with the Osmo Pocket running you $349.
