Jul 23, 2011 Thanks for your solution! I used a variation of it which worked under Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. I put an alias of the application in the main Application folder, which wasn't showing up in Launchpad, into my Users’ Application folder. An icon for the formerly missing application then appeared in Launchpad. Jul 28, 2011 But now there’s LaunchControl, a free utility that allows you to hide any app from appearing in LaunchPad without uninstalling the app from Lion. Download LaunchControl from developer ChaosSpace.de. LaunchControl is a tiny download and extremely easy to use, it displays a list of all the apps contained within your LaunchPad and you just uncheck the ones you don’t want to see anymore. Add an app that you didn’t download from the App Store: Drag the app to the Applications folder in the Finder on your Mac. The app is then shown in Launchpad. Open an app

- You can also type an app's name to find the app in Launchpad, then press the Return key to open it.
- To close Launchpad without opening an app, click the background, or pinch open your thumb and three fingers.
