If you want something a little less expensive, H&R Block Deluxe is a good option. Our second favorite tax software allows you to file by yourself or with a pro via mobile app or through the downloaded software. To file federal taxes only, the deluxe program is normally priced at $34.99, but is on sale at Amazon right now for $24.99, giving you $10 in savings. To file state taxes in addition to federal, the deluxe and state download is discounted as well to $34.99 from $44.99, down 22%. Note that the PC download does require an operating system of Windows 7 or higher, while Mac needs Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks or Mac OS Catalina 10.15.

H&R Block Deluxe is geared more towards the most confident tax filers. Like TurboTax, it asks clear and concise questions that help look for common tax breaks, plus it handles Form 1040, the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), child tax credits, and gave the option to claim student loan interest deduction.
