So your first job when you get the full list of your Mac apps that are 32-bit, is to go to each developer's website and check for a newer version. The list makes that easy as it will show you the. Alternatively, a third-party app such as Go64, 32-bitCheck, or RoaringApps can help you check your Mac for apps that may not be compatible with Catalina (RoaringApps also has a searchable online database of 32-bit apps). If you find any Catalina-incompatible apps on your Mac (aside from those included with macOS), check with the developer to.

How to check your Mac for 32-bit apps before Apple drops support
- In the top left corner click on the logo, hold down the Option key on your keyboard, while holding it down, click on System Information…
- Scroll down on the left sidebar until you get down to Software. Expand the menu if necessary, and then tap the Applications option. It may take a few moments for it to load, especially if you have a ton of apps.
- Up top, there should be a menu option to sort by 64-Bit (Intel). Click on that, and you’ll now have a list of apps that aren’t 64-bit (that are 32-bit only). The 32-bit apps will be labeled No instead of Yes.
Your list will likely be fairly small with only a handful of apps needing updates to 64-bit. Ironically, for most people, the 32-bit list will be dominated by Apple apps. Apple’s DVD player, and InkServer applications still lack native 64-bit support. These are first-party, pre-installed applications that come bundled with every Mac. But that’s not all, some of Apple’s Mac App Store apps such as Compressor aren’t updated for 64-bit systems as well.
Unfortunately, the only way around 32-bit apps is to notify the developers behind the app, asking to see if they would consider updating their apps for 64-bit. Otherwise, they will be left in the Mac app graveyard as newer versions of macOS potentially kill off support entirely.

Apple has announced that macOS 10.14 will be the last version capable of running 32-bit applications.
As Apple finalizes its transition to all-64-bit code, Mojave and High Sierra present an alert like this when you launch a 32-bit application. While it's not a crisis at present, you'll need to update or upgrade those applications before you update to macOS 10.15 later this year.

- Take an inventory of the apps on your Mac and see which ones are still 32-bit.
- Go to a developer's website or search the web for update or upgrade information.
- Keep track of upgrade costs so you can plan your spending to get all the upgrades you need.
Any app that's built with Apple's 32-bit software libraries will need to be updated so it will run in 64-bit mode. These are primarily older applications, but some newer specialty apps are also still 32-bit.
As Apple says, 'The technologies that define today's Mac experience—such as Metal graphics acceleration—work only with 64-bit apps. To ensure that the apps you purchase are as advanced as the Mac you run them on, all future Mac software will eventually be required to be 64-bit.'
Apple's support article explains how to use the built-in macOS System Report to identify 32-bit apps on your system.
However, once they've been identified, looking them up and locating the developers' contact information can be a painstaking process if you've got more than a few. In addition, the System Report doesn't account for apps that are themselves 64-bt, but that contain 32-bit plugins, frameworks or services. These apps may or may not run correctly on macOS 10.15.
